Changes to Digital Asset Management in 2010
by John Engle

Q: In 2010, Pro Image Center expanded to include portal. How did this affect users and what were some of the functions they gained?

A: Last year brought about many changes in the Digital Asset Management services offered by Professional Litho. This not only included an update of the core software, but the addition of our Portal Server. The Portal Server, based on PHP technology, offers our clients a number of enhancements and additional features:

—Speed, speed, and more speed — clients will experience a noticeable increase in speed due to the Portal PHP architecture.

—Web-ready file conversions — allowing users to repurpose print quality images for use on the web with one click of the mouse.

—Annotation tools — allow users to apply corrective annotation notes to images, PDFs, and InDesign documents online, therefore reducing proofing costs.

—Supermail capabilities — authorized users of the system have the ability to hand pick and deliver assets to anyone by generating an email containing a hyperlink. Recipients of the email will have immediate/anonymous access to download the chosen assets.

These are but a few of the many features offered through our Digital Asset Management Portal site. Professional Litho is committed to listening to our clients and offering solutions that allow them to utilize digital assets more efficiently.

Stay tuned … more updates to come!
