Digital Asset Management at Professional Litho
by Sarah Tieck

Many know Professional Litho for our prepress services, photography and design. But since 2000 we’ve offered digital asset management through Pro Image Center — our solution that many clients consider essential to their production and marketing efforts.

Pro Image Center’s secure servers are available 24 hours a day, and support files ranging from image formats to MP3s to flash documents. It manages information and archives assets, handling volume, demand, and most importantly the unique needs of each user. Files are inventoried and duplication is eliminated.

The organized, but flexible infrastructure that is the basis for Pro Image Center ensures clients can operate efficiently, with a balance of security and accessibility.

Since its inception, our base system has included:

—Access to digital resources –images, audio/video, and other digital files — from anywhere in the world.

—A simple, intuitive design requiring minimal training for users.

—Metadata to enhance searching.

—Control of user privileges — allowing vendors, clients, and employees separate access to all or just a few of the assets.

—Back-ups that are stored on and off site.

—Reliable and consistent uptime.

In 2010, new features made Pro Image Center more intuitive and accessible. It became possible to view files and make annotations online, thus automating workflow. In addition, assets could be converted and delivered with one click, or sent out via email and hyperlink. “We’re very proactive and very service oriented,” says John Engle, manager of digital asset management at Professional Litho. “We make sure the features that our clients are looking for are available as soon as possible.”

At first there was the occasional summer barbecue. But now, luncheons — or perhaps feasts — happen year round. There are soup days, taco fiestas, chili dog days, and lasagna, and the list goes on ... with new ideas always brewing.
